The Hidden Closeness

  and you are trustworthy in all your precepts.

The soul selects her beauty
then swings open 
wide the doors;
inviting and gracious
more 
or less.

Yet, sometimes the stunning
comes
swooping in, 
startling,
like the great, 
gray-ivory wings
of the blue heron,

shaking the wind,
like a snap of sail
out of the unexpected
moment
and lush crescendo
of summer:
